Calibration Laboratory Technician Responsible for the day-to-operation of the client’s laboratory providing standards calibration using UKAS accredited methods for the client’s instrument production, spares and custom calibration requirements. Additional aspects of the role include stock management, liaison with UKAS for maintenance of the Lab’s accreditation, equipment maintenance, calibration and continuous improvement. Duties: Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Calibration Laboratory Technician will undertake calibration and certification of standards in the client’s UKAS accredited laboratory in response to production and external customer requirements. Day-to-day responsibility for the operation of the calibration laboratory. Self management to deliver calibration standards on time and to quality targets. Liaison with external suppliers. Monitoring of performance and calibration of laboratory equipment. Participation in annual UKAS audits of the laboratory. Experience: Minimum of three years experience in a calibration/test environment – ideally UKAS accredited. Experienced and competent with the operation and maintenance of precision instrumentation. Strong understanding of the principles and practices of calibration. Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask. Ability to monitor and appraise instrument performance. Ability to organize and maintain the local working environment. Familiarity with the principles and practices of local stock control. Experienced with the use of MS Office applications, especially MS Excel. Familiarity with UKAS audit procedures an advantage. Ability to deal directly with both internal and external customers.
