Cambridge City Hall last night was like a scene from "Night of the Living Dead". The Sullivan Chamber was populated by public housing residents outraged by a recent decision to ban smoking inside public housing buildings. You could choke on the stench of cigarette smoke embedded in the clothing of those who were there. Needless to say, they were all jonesing for a smoke. This being an election year and because most of these people are voters, the spineless councillors passed an Order asking the Cambridge Housing Authority to revisit the topic. One has to wonder how we ever managed to get the votes to prohibit smoking in bars and restaurants.
