Can someone help me understand how it is that I know many things - TopicsExpress

Can someone help me understand how it is that I know many things about the Isle of Man (e.g., TT, Manx) yet did not know the are *not* a part of the United Kingdom? Was it merely a lack of attention on my part? Or do I get to pin this on insufficient schooling and/or an inconsistent curriculum? (I fear it is because I lost the passion I had in my Model UN days to keep up with much about the worlds nations yet it hurts to admit this to myself.) Regardless, it is this gap in someone who prides themselves on continually educating himself that worries me about the push to make our colleges more like training programs for businesses and less academies for producing well-read and self-driven lifelong learners.
