Candidacy for National Chairman of the Free National - TopicsExpress

Candidacy for National Chairman of the Free National Movement The Bahamas today is faced with many challenges. Socially, Economically and Politically. It is without question, that if we are to face these challenges head on it will require strong Leadership. It will also require Strong ethics, commitment, consistency and a love for GOD and Country. I am one who firmly believes Citizenship requires every citizen to have a responsibility to contribute to National Development. My life has been an example of these beliefs. The magnitude of our National challenges, however, will require all of us to go that extra mile. To step forward as part of the solution. The Free National Movement (FNM), now more than ever, needs Strong Leadership at all levels of the Party. It also requires a National Chairman that understands the plight of the family islands and the feeling of isolation in the decision making process. The fact is, Family islanders understand what is needed to resolve their problems. We need to listen, honestly engage them and actively address their Challenges. The FNM must clearly articulate its Philosophy and its Platform. We cannot afford to be classified as the Opposition merely opposing for opposing sake. Globally, we are moving at a faster pace and Governing will require a proactive and responsive Government. The decision making load is becoming too high for just the Leader. Governing will require in the future an approach that will expand the participation in the decision making process of a wider segment of our society, at all levels of Government. In other words we need to stand by Christian and Democratic principles in our battle to address those current issues that are of great concern to our Nation like Crime, Illegal immigration, Gender equality, Taxation (VAT), the lack of accountability of Government spending, increase electricity Blackouts and higher electricity costs, unemployment and the increasing Cost of living. We need a responsive Party that is Battle ready. A leadership team that that would bring all the soldiers under one tent. Equip them for the impending battle in the Next General Election. We also need leadership that accepts the battle principle that “Soldiers should not go Hungry.” I find it necessary to step forward as an FNM. To stand firmly, espousing our Principles and be a part of the solution through the FNM. I am consistently hearing a call for New, Innovative, Compassionate, humble and Decisive Leadership that feels your pain. I believe that I fit all of those Qualities and can continue our efforts to improve the quality of life for all Bahamians through the office of the National Chairman of the FNM. Therefore, I plan to offer myself for the position of National Chairman at the FNM National convention on November 21, 2014.
