Cannot disagree with this. Our current educational funding system is severely flawed. It is financed through property taxes, which has several very important effects. a) ONLY property owners are dinned to fund education, which is a natural incentive to resent low-income people who cannot afford real property. b) Property owners who do not have children in school and do not anticipate having children in school, naturally resent the educational system itself, since it is the visible cause of their property taxes, and the continual increase in taxes. c) Every bit as important as a & b, because different school/tax districts have different levels of value of property in them, the better off districts get better schools with better materials for their children. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever ~ we should centralize our school funding system so that every district ~ more importantly, every child in every school district ~ will receive the same level of funding.
