Captains Whole30 Blog - Earth Date 1/18/15 The halfway hump has come and gone and for some reason I felt as if it were not worth celebrating. This past week the researchers put me through several strenuous tests including Media Night at The Depot Craft Brewery Distillery where their new white whiskey cocktails and brews were flowing, a beautiful cocktail party hosted by V Dubs Grub, Petal to the Metal Reno, and the fantastic businesses at The Arlington, and even an entire day spent in the belly of the beast, the Dorindas Chocolates kitchen with #YelpElite and renowned chocolatiers, watching as they sampled more than 6 different designer confections, several cacao varieties, and amazing Hub Coffee Roasters (which I did enjoy) right before my eyes! From the photos, you can see exactly what I was up against, however, I surprisingly remained resolute, and believe it or not, it was easy! I asked all the right questions and figured out what I could eat at each place, and if I knew there would be nothing, I packed caregiver approved provisions from the pantry to tide me over. And a big thanks to fellow traveler Kyle and Traci who saved me with some delicious cioppino when I had none on hand far from the living quarters! For some of my fellow travelers, who shall not be named, these experiments proved too challenging, and they most certainly fell off track. But others, like Denise and Ashley, managed to fight the cravings and urges by making lists, experimenting in the kitchen, avoiding situations all together, and generally kicking this experiments ass! At this point the experimental parameters have become conditions of living for me, and I dont think much about them at all. Instead of thinking about what I cant have, I focus on what I can have and that has worked out very well. Though some of them had little faith I would still be here at this point, my fellow travelers ARE the reason I am. In the beginning they helped me through difficult situations, and lately helping them stay motivated has become my motivation to continue! The bottom line is, weve done this as a team and will succeed as a team! In our weekly download sessions, weve all reported similar benefits such as increased focus, energy, and overall vitality, clothes fitting and feeling better, and even a new appreciation for food, to which I attribute our success. With about 11 days remaining, I dont predict any issues staying the course to completion, but of course Ill continue to report my findings. With all of this progress, the final day should yield some exciting actionable items we may use on the home planet, meaning this experiment and its hypothesis were a success.
