Central America Challenge Days 3 & 4 updates- Day 3- the day started for the team in David, the bikes are loaded to the van and they head to the village of Mali and there onto the La Fortuna forest reserves, there would be spectacular views of the bocas del Toro (group of islands that were used by pirates) & the Caribbean Sea, the conditions sound horrendous with rain that even the local guide Nd challenge leader saying they had never cycled in conditions like it, the tracks were like cycling in Rivers and plenty of tough hills! They managed the 85km though and arrived safely in the Port of Arimante. The town sounds horrendous and the hotel no better, the only place to eat is owned by Chinese people so ironically another chinese meal ha ha, dejavu? Bed at 9.30 to be up at 5am! Day 4- Breakfast consisted of cold egg omelette, doughy bread and what appeared to be a sausage but the contents were unknown! They set off through banana plantations towards Changuinola and the dodgy wooden bridge that I was so looking forward to (the only reason Im happy to have not gone :-) ) and the tricky task of the Panama/Costa Rica border control, Dame dropped a vital part of the camera equipment over the bridge (Ginge told on you Dame) luckily they had a spare! Onwards into Costa Rica for a very sweaty humid 102km ride towards their overnight hotel in Cahuita on the Caribbean coast! Sounds like they are tired and extremely hot at all times!
