"Certainly, urban Edmonton is seeing its own boom. John Rose, the city’s chief economist, says Edmonton’s “wage age” population, its population of potential workers, increased by 3.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2013 — outpacing Calgary and the rest of the province. “Population rates for the Edmonton region will be well above 1.2 million by the end of 2013,” he predicts. “And by the end of 2014, I wouldn’t be surprised if we hit 1.3 million.”
