Check out Tuesdays progress on our pit floor at the building site in Lake Hallie! The foam pit is 7 deep, has a surface area of over 1,000 sq. ft. and a volume of over 7,000 cu. ft. The front has a 23 x 23 section that connects to both spring floors, both Tumble Traks, our Rod Floor, an in-floor trampoline and a balance beam (as illustrated). The center channel section, which will be used for at least two single bar sets and possibly for a climbing wall, is 45 long by 7 wide. The end section is a 10 x 18 landing area for one side of our dual vault runway! Our facility design process started with the foam pit, and its location determined where everything else needed to go, and what the building dimensions had to be. Truly a case of form following function! It is so much simpler designing from the ground-up instead of re-purposing an existing building, and we are very fortunate to have this opportunity! This type of pit system with so many equipment connections is what you see at the nations top gymnastics facilities because it is such a versatile training tool (and also a lot of fun for the kids)!
