The Mens senior side started their year with victories over Denmark and Peru, but suffered a disappointing group stage exit at the summers FIFA World Cup in Brazil. But Roy Hodgsons men bounced back, winning their next six matches to finish 2014 at the top of their qualifying group for the UEFA 2016 European Championship. Mark Sampson took over at the helm of the England Womens Football Team and they qualified for next years World Cup in style, with 10 victories from 10 games. The Lionesses then capped their year by playing world champions Germany in front of a 45,000 crowd at Wembley Stadium. England U17s won the UEFA EURO U17 Championship in Malta, while the U21s booked their place at the U21 Euros in the Czech Republic next summer. And England finished runners-up in the European Powerchair Nations Cup, while the Blind team received a major funding boost ahead of next years Euros with a £1million training pitch installed at St. Georges Park.
