Chelsea latest: Including Lewandowski and Wallace A round-up of news and views relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours. Chelsea’s new signing Andre Schurrle has said Jose Mourinho was influential in finalising his move to Stamford Bridge, with the Portuguese manager speaking to the forward at Michael Ballack’s testimonial match shortly before the deal was completed. “Mourinho has a great personality and is just a cool guy,” said Schurrle. “He was a big influence in my move.” Fernando Torres has said he will discuss his future at Chelsea with Mourinho this week, but he is determined to stay at the club and become the “number one” in his position again. Chelsea are expected to sign a striker this summer, and Torres will also have to compete with Romelu Lukaku next season, with the Belgian unlikely to be sent out on loan again. Chelsea’s other senior striker from last season, Demba Ba, has also said that he is looking forward to working with Mourinho amid rumours that he could leave Stamford Bridge on loan this summer. Ba only joined Chelsea in January, but could be well down the pecking order at the Blues next year. In terms of bringing in a new forward, Chelsea are reportedly set to switch their focus from Edinson Cavani to Robert Lewandowski, with the Uruguayan striker apparently set on a move to Real Madrid. Cavani’s father, Luis, said that his son wanted to move to Madrid ahead of Premier League suitors Manchester City and Chelsea. Any deal is likely to be delayed until the Spanish side appoint a new manager. Even if Cavani is on the market, Chelsea might move for Lewandowski due to the Napoli forward’s high price tag. The Borussia Dortmund striker seemed likely to move to Bayern Munich, but his club are refusing to sell him to their Bundesliga rivals, perhaps leaving an opening for Chelsea. Another striker Chelsea could miss out on is Brazilian Hulk, with Monaco apparently in pole position to sign the 26-year-old from Zenit St Petersburg. Hulk is keen to leave Russia after failing to settle there after his move last summer, and could reunite with his former Porto team-mate at the big-spending Ligue 1 club. Reports in Nigeria have suggested John Obi MIkel has agreed to join Turkish side Galatasaray. However Chelsea and Galatasaray have not agreed a deal for the player, whose future is unclear with Michael Essien returning to Stamford Bridge this summer. Chelsea youngster Wallace will discuss his role at the club with Jose Mourinho when he arrives from Brazilian side Fluminense next month. The 19-year-old was signed in January, but stayed at Fluminense on loan for six months, and could be loaned out again next year to gain experience. (b)
