Child Passenger Seat Safety Check in St. James on June 26 Trained safety technicians will conduct child passenger safety seat inspections for the public free of charge on Thursday, June 26, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the St. James Community Building. The building is located at 1340 Nelson Hart Park in St. James. Technicians will check car seats to ensure they are properly installed and show parents the correct way to install car seats. Three out of every four car seats are incorrectly installed by parents, said Missouri Department of Transportation Senior Traffic Studies Specialist Susan Summers-Harmon. We want to help parents make sure their child safety seat is properly installed and discuss future safety needs as their child grows. Missouri law requires all children under eight to be in an appropriate child safety seat or booster seat, unless they are at least 80 pounds or 4 feet 9 inches tall.
