Children are more enthusiastic and motivated to learn when learning is combined with play, particularly outdoor activities in which a childs mind is more accepting to new ideas and memories are often unforgettable. In fulfilling this as well as a child’s right to play the Oceania Football Confederation and International Child Advocacy Organization (OFC) together with UNICEF Pacific have signed a collaborative Just Play Programme. The Just Play Programme which focuses on 6-12 year olds and is currently in placed for Primary Schools in Samoa, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands promotes the physical wellbeing, participation, learning and protection of students through football-related activities. In addition it also serves as an avenue for addressing endemic issues such as non-communicable diseases, poor nutrition, gender equality, stigma and discrimination towards children with disabilities.
