Christmas Morning Devotion: Brokenness is a blessing-Years ago my wife Carol was unpacking & setting up the Christmas decorations. Pulling the Nativity snow globe from its box, one of our kids dropped the globe onto the tile floor. Crash! Water, snow and glass went everywhere. Our young one was sick inside as they saw what they had done. And Oh what they had done! Carol picked up the shattered globe and made a wonder-filled discovery. The manger cradling the newborn Jesus was no longer off limits, behind glass, only observable from the outside. Instinctively Carol moved her hand over and beyond the jagged glass fragments into that first century world and touched the timeless Christ child. Messy brokenness allowed access to Jesus. Today, bring your messy families, your failings from this last year, your life, less than perfect over and beyond the shattered excluding edges to touch, or better, be touched by the Prince of Peace, Jesus.
