Citizen Q: The last of our soldiers are on their way home from Afghanistan. After 12 years, Canada’s mission is done. 158 soldiers, a diplomat, a journalist and two contractors were killed, and around 2,000 soldiers were wounded, and that doesn’t include those with emotional scars. In Afghanistan, the Taliban are no longer in power and there’s a presidential election coming up. But, stores and offices are still surrounded by razor wire, the economy is in rough shape and there’s been a rise in violence in the last couple of years. Was our mission in Afghanistan worth it?
