Come be a part of 1042 Church tonight as we continue to listen in on the private, intimate discussion between Jesus and His disciples the night before He was crucified (John 13-17). Jesus keeps saying He will “go away” but as the Great Comforter He promises to send to them Another Comforter, the Holy Spirit who will be with them forever. This Second Comforter (Parakletos) will forever be disclosing to Jesus’ disciples the depths of Jesus’ words, life, death, resurrection, etc. but He will also give them the great Triad of virtues that the world runs after but always eludes them: Love, Joy, and Peace. The sacrificial, Cross-love, the inexpressible eternal Joy, and the Peace that surpasses all understanding can only be found in Christ through His Spirit. Let us echo the words of John Wesley: “Lord, evermore give us this peace! How serenely may we pass through the most turbulent scenes of life, when all is quiet and harmonious within! You have made peace through the blood of Your cross. May we give all diligence to preserve this inestimable gift, till it issue in everlasting peace!”
