I gathered my nerves and whispered. “It’s the first time I go out with a girl.” “It’s the first time I go out with a boy.” Fat Patsy answered, matching my tone and pitch. “Do you want to watch the movie?” “No.” “How about we go down to the levee? We can get some beer on the way.” And condoms. “Have you been there before?” “No. Have you?” “No.” We were still whispering. The levee is where kids make out. We both knew that from word of mouth.
