Commissioner, Watched your interview on the news this evening - TopicsExpress

Commissioner, Watched your interview on the news this evening in which you implored the People of the Bahamas not to base their opinions on speculation, but that which you personally express from your office and to the Office of the Prime Minister. We would like to hear and see your opinion and direction about the active Enforcement of the Animal Rights and Control Act.....Please Reply..... In a message dated 8/28/2013 8:50:05 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, RGoodlande@aol writes: Good evening Commissioner, First, let me say that I have studied your credentials and find that you have made your heritage proud of your achievements and accomplishments in the RBPF and to the Bahamas as a whole. I write because I am concerned that the RBPF is not in its entirety focused on the issues and rights of wild (feral) and domesticated animals in the Bahamas. I am affiliated with several Animal Rights advocates in the Bahamas including many that work relentless hours in the interest of Potcakes (both owned and street dogs) and others who find the plight of Surrey Horses on the streets of Nassau deplorable. Its a quite common opinion (albiet possibly wrong) that the sworn Officers of the RBPF turn a blind eye to legislation that is intended to protect those who are incapable of protecting themselves and turn a blind eye to abuses and neglect of animals in the Bahamas. I dont believe thats entirely true since I have a personal experience with Officers of the RBPF and DEU assisting with the seizure of a neglected Potcake here in Andros. I am so grateful for their assistance and intervention as is Im sure the soul in the Potcake that they saved. Humbly, I ask that you and your office make it a cause, that the RBPF fully engage with the Bahamas Humane Society and other Animal Welfare organizations within and throughout the Bahamas to ensure that there is an unincumbered relationship that will hold accountable, anyone who is responsible for Neglect and/or Abuse to any Animal in their care.... v/r, Rick
