Congratulations to US state Minnesota which banned common anti-bacterial chemical, triclosan from soaps & most consumer hygiene products. It disrupt hormones in lab animals & contributes to resistant bacteria. Triclosan contaminates blood & breastmilk of Australians with concentrations higher than our Swedish counterparts. Triclosan is also highly toxic to algae and some fish species particularly in early stages of development. Methyl triclosan, a breakdown product, has been found in fish. Australian 2006 study found triclosan in 5 rivers receiving effluent discharge from Waste Water Treatment Plants. Sunlight can convert triclosan in river water to produce toxic dioxins.
