Congratulations to our friends and neighbors at Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site for passing the 2,000 likes mark! While African New Yorkers have been a part of NYC longer than the Roosevelts (the first settler of NYC was afro-hispanic, Jan Rodrigues), the first Roosevelt arrived in our city when we were still New Amsterdam, and his farm was surrounded by free African-American neighbors. This amazing historic site is only one subway stop away from the African Burial Ground National Monument and we hope if you visit us, visit them in person or online!
