Constance Bennett: Like Crawford, she was cast as a perennial - TopicsExpress

Constance Bennett: Like Crawford, she was cast as a perennial Cinderella, going from rags to riches (often with a price) in most of her movies. Unlike Crawford, who, despite all the designed wardrobe and perfect hair, remained a working girl at heart, and behaved that way, Bennett was a mesmerizing, ethereal nymph, shinning with a shimmering light from within, fluid as water and possessing a calm spark, like a mature, sedate pixie, which made her unique as far as actresses go, and cemented her in in he hearts of the movie going public, as she was a big star in the early 1930s. Her typecasting as a strong woman often wronged by high society worked for a time, but later afforded her a career decline in the mid 1930s, and she would never enjoy the same success again (except Topper, 1937). A spell bounding movie presence, has to be seen at least once.
