Continuation of Ramadan topic: THE VIRTUES OF FASTING 1. Being provided one gate to heaven (al-rayyan). On the authority of Sahl Ibn Sa’d radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Verily the paradise has one gate that is al-rayyan. Those who fast will enter to the paradise through the gate on the resurrection day. It will be said, “Where are those who used to observe fasts?” Therefore, those men who always perform fasting will get up and enter through the gate. Nobody will be able to enter through it (the gate), but them. After all of them enter, the gate will be closed and nobody will be able to enter through it (the gate).” (Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim) 2. The rewards will be multiplied. On the authority of Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Each good deed that is performed by man will be multiplied (the rewards) ten times until seven hundred times, except fasting. Allah said, Fasting is Mine (for Me), and I will reward it (the person who fasts). Man who fasts has left his foods, drinks, and desires for My sake.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim) 3. Those who fast will have two happiness and their mouth odor will be fragrant beside Allah. On the authority of Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “One who fasts has two happiness: the happiness while breaking the fast and during the resurrection day. Indeed, the smell which comes out from the mouth of those who fast is better (more fragrant) in the sight of Allah than the smell of the perfume (misk).” (Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim) 4. Fasting can be a shield/screen. On the authority of Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Fasting is a shield (of the hell).” (Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim) 5. Fasting can erase sins. On the authority of Hudhaifah radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “A trial of someone is on his family, his provision/wealth, his children, and his neighbors. The sin (caused from the trial) can be erased by performing salah (ritual prayers), fasting, and giving in charity.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim) Your Comment is Highly Appreciated...
