Cote d’Ivoire Says It Will Strengthen Cooperation With World Bank Cote d’Ivoire’s Prime Minister, Mr Daniel Duncan, said the country will strengthen its cooperation with the World Bank to foster more effective economic development. This is contained in a statement from the government in Abidjan on Saturday which quoted the prime minister at a partnership enhancement meeting between the Ivorian government and the World Bank. It said the meeting held in Abidjan on Friday was used to take stock of the quality of cooperation between the Cote d’Ivoire Government and the World Bank. It reassured the bank of the country’s readiness to ensure sustained partnership that would promote poverty reduction and shared prosperity. The statement quoted Duncan as saying that the World Bank remained the biggest contributor in terms of donations from partners. “With a cumulative portfolio of 266 billion CFA (about US $ 532 million), the World Bank remains the biggest contributor in terms of donations from our partners,’’ he was quoted as saying. The statement also quoted World Bank’s Operations Director, Ousmane Diagana as describing the relationship between the bank and Cote d’Ivoire as satisfactory. Diagana said the bank has supported the realisation of many economic and development programmes in the country.
