Cranberry Sauce Chances are food will land on the table cloth and it’s going to get dirty. Don’t stress during the meal but wait until after the meal. Cranberry Sauce on the Table Cloth or Clothing For some of you, this may go against everything youve heard and been taught - but this is the recommended method for cleaning cranberry sauce. After the sink is cleared and dishes put away, carefully take your table cloth to the sink (make sure to avoid spreading the cranberry stain). Next, put some water on to boil. Pre-rinse the table cloth with the hottest tap water available to remove any remaining solids. Have someone help you hold the table cloth over the sink, then pour the hot water slowly and gently over the stained fabric, making sure to cover every bit of the cranberry covered stain. Be careful, you dont want to pour any hot water on your hands. If any stain is left over, leave the table cloth to soak in a bowl of hot water with 1 tsp of liquid dish washing detergent for 60 minutes. Rinse with clean water. Cranberry Sauce on the Carpet There is a good chance the carpet will see a little of the cranberry sauce this Thanksgiving. Clean up any debris. Then using a clean cloth, blot up the liquid until it’s been absorbed. Do not rub or you risk spreading the stain. Mix 1 teaspoon liquid detergent in 1 cup of warm water. Don’t use a product with bleach as this can cause additional problems. Pour a little of the mixture over the stain. Use a clean toothbrush and your fingers to gently work into the carpet and clean the stain. Blot dry with clean towel. Repeat several times if necessary. Tough Cranberry Stains Stubborn stains might be lifted with an application of 3% medicinal hydrogen peroxide left on over night. It wont harm fabric or carpet- just dont use in direct sunlight as the sunlight converts hydrogen peroxide to plain, pure water! Cover with plastic wrap and a towel.
