DAILY CELEBRATIPON OF CHRIST, Saturday November 1, 2014 Celebration of Christ: Jesus, the Glory of the Saints Message: We are Saintly Citizens, Christ Jesus is our Mentor OH WHEN THE SAINTS – OH WHEN THE SAINTS GO MATCHING FORTH - GO MATCHING FORTH WHEN THE SAINTS GO MATCHING FORTH OH LORD, I WANT TO BE IN THEIR NUMBER WHEN THE SAINTS GO MATCHING FORTH Today is indeed a special day. It is a day of celebration; a day of solemnity. It is the solemnity of All Saints, the celebration of our communion with the Saints, the remembrance of our patron Saints, the heroes of world and of course, the solemnity of the Saints in making. If you are among the saints in making say Amen! The Saints are our ancestors in faith. They are those who have already completed their journey and lived holy lives while they were here on earth. Now they have received their crown of glory and they are now interceding for us so that one day we shall be united with them in that heavenly banquet which our God has prepared for us. John was privileged to see this glorious banquet. In the book of Revelation chapter 7, John narrates his experience: “… I looked and behold a great multitude which no man could number, from every nation, tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lam, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb!” What a glorious scene. It is a scene which everyone of us would like to behold. You can imagine from this passage what heaven will be like. Heaven is a glorious place, indeed! It is a place to be. Who are these people dressed with white robe and what are the qualifications for joining this glorious group? One of the elders in today’s revelation answered this question. According to him, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” Psalm 24:6 describes them as those who seek the face of the Lord. The Saints, according to the above passage are those who have come out of the great tribulation. In the gospel of Matthew 5:1-12 our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Blessed are you who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad for your reward is great in heaven.” This passage refers to those great men and women we are celebrating today. We are all called to a life of sainthood. We belong to God. We are God’s children; and we shall return to God. St. John wrote in his first epistle, “Beloved, we are God’s children now; it does not appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” On that glorious day we shall not just see Christ in his glory we shall share in his glory – we shall be like him in glory. Today’s responsorial psalm gives us the qualification for sainthood. The psalmist asks, “Who shall climb the mountain of the Lord? Who shall stand in his holy place? The clean of hands and the pure of heart, whose soul is not set on vein things.” This affirms what our Lord Jesus Christ said in the beatitude, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Our God is holy and all those who come to him must be holy. The bible says, “Be holy as your heavenly Father is holy.” As you live a pure and holy life, God will richly bless you. He will cloth you with the garment of salvation, He will reward you abundantly, He will bless you with long life and above all, he will consecrate you with a crown of glory. Through the intercession of the Saints, may God grant you the grace to live a saintly life, through Jesus Christ our Lord – Amen!
