DAILY CHEWING STICK: (Gal 1:6-12, Lk10:25-37). CHRISTIAN MEANING OF NEIGHBOURHOOD WHO IS MY NEIGHBOUR? The average man or woman in d street, will likely toll d line of d Dictionary (Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English) in defining a Neighbour as: Someone who lives next door or near u; someone who is Sitting or standing next to u. But Jesus in d gospel, using d parable of d GOOD SAMARITAN, widens our horizons that our neighbour is anyone or persons in need, wherever they be, nearer home or continents away. A TRUE NEIGHBOUR Brethren, d Good Samaritan was d least person expected to render such help. This was bcoz d Samaritans were considered by d Jews as heretics, aliens & lower than d pagans. But it came as a case of d Stone rejected by d builders becoming d corner stone. D REJECTED BECOMING D ACCEPTED NORM & YARDSTICK OF MEASURING TRUE LOVE. Hmmmm! There is always something good in d worst of every person. A CALL TO BE A NEIGHBOUR Brethren, how often have we seen people in helpless & hopeless situations & ACTED AS THEIR GOOD SAMARITAN? OR DID WE IGNORE & GAVE EXCUSES WHY WE CANT HELP THEM? How often hv we walked past hungry, dying, aged, sick, poor & jobless people & refused 2 d WHEN WE R IN POSITION TO DO SO? MYTHS OF EXCUSES Our lame excuses sometimes include: Someone else will help dem, Im too busy right now, I have my own family 2 look after, I will b late for work, he/she is not 4rm my tribe, church, parish, etc! LET US HELP & NOT HINDER BCOZ EXCUSES ARE D NAILS USED IN BUILDING A HOUSE OF FAILURE. (Whatsoever u do, to d least of my brodas....). GOODMORNING AS I WISH U A GRACE FILLED DAY! BE A NEIGHBOUR TODAY!!!
