DAILY WALK June 17, 2013 WHEN A GOOD MAN DIES When we lose a good friend or loved one, we tend to meditate on his or her life, sooth ourselves with the joyful memories of the deceased and wonder what their eternity will be like. Psalm 115:15 says “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants.” NIV In or modern culture, death is a tragedy. To God, it is another one of his loved ones coming home. Before Christ died on the Cross for us, the saints went to Paradise until Jesus was raised from the dead and took them to Heaven with Him. In John 11:25-26 Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” NIV We can never know for sure who goes to Heaven, because we are not allowed to see into the heart of another person. When people saw me living in sin they did not know that I was crying out day and night for God to save me. I now know that I will go to Heaven when I am called home, but you only have my testimony. Only God knows my heart. I don’t even know my own heart or mind. Acts 2:21 says “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” NIV If we tell others to trust Jesus, we will have done what we were called to do. The results are God’s concern. God will do the rest, and I am sure that we will meet people in Heaven who called on God in their dying breath. What should concern us is if we are living the Gospel. Some folks will be surprised to see us in Heaven. When a good man or woman dies, we should be thankful for their life and give comfort to his family.
