DAY 8 – Mooning Todays pose has lots of different names is different yoga traditions, but the name I like the most is Half-Moon. It brilliantly stretches the side of the body and works on the core muscles at the same time. All these effects are able to gently compensate the sedentary lifestyle that most of us live. Step 1: Start in Mountain pose (again, for further instructions scroll down to DAY 2). Stop here for a few seconds and observe your breath: how fast, how even, how deep it is. (Lower back pain: bend your knees slightly and separate your feet.) Step 2: Lift your arms up above your head and place your palms together – here we tend to put extra tension on the shoulders by pulling them towards the ears, try to release any eventual stress in the area. Your arms are aiming towards the sky or ceiling and they are super-straight, preferably in line with the ears. Your chest should feel open and free. Step 3: Now very gently and slowly lean to the right side while your upper body remains like it was between two walls... so no turning, twisting to either forward or back, only movement is to the right side, the muscles on the right are contracting, while on the left are stretching. Step 4: The biggest challenge here is to find how deep we can go into the pose while holding it and breathing normally. Very helpful if you imagine your invisible corsette that is protecting and holding your trunk. Always watch the signs of your body and stop before feeling any pain, just try to enjoy the stretch and its liberating effect. Step 5: Hold the pose for 5-10 breaths and then repeat to the other side. When I come out of this pose, I always have a big smile on my face... do you? https://youtube/watch?v=HDgCklHpvCc
