DECLARATION SPEECH 20-10-2014 Ihedi Iche 2015 Ambassador Obi Adim 2015 Imo State Gubernatorial Candidate Your Excellency, the State Chairman, Distinguished Members of the State Working Committee, Leaders and Members of our Great Party, Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen. I thank you most sincerely for granting me this opportunity to address you this day. My visit today may seem belated on the surface, but the fact is that your humble brother and son is one of those lucky Nigerians who are working directly with his Excellency, President Goodluck Jonathan. As you know, the challenges there are indeed enormous as I have had to relentlessly contribute my own quota in driving the Transformation Agenda of the President. Hence, my serious time constraint. However, my dear leaders and contemporaries, having come here today and considering the warm welcome you have accorded me as one of your own, I will definitely make up for the lost time. I have not only been a keen observer of the politics of my state, I have also largely participated in the political activities as a major financier in my local government area in Onuimo and my Zone in general. I have had the rare opportunity to leverage the Youths of this State as I have done Nationwide to discharge my responsibilities effectively. I promise to do more in this regard, which is my primary area of responsibility at the Presidency. I have in the course of time thoroughly observed the perennial socio-political and economic summersault going on in Imo State. Having consulted far and near, I have come here today to seek your permission and support as I present myself to do things differently in the interest of our people as the Governor of our beloved State. First, let me begin with the vision – because without a clear vision, the people will perish. As President John F. Kennedy once remarked that “it is better to light a candle than to sit and curse the dark”. Therefore, let me just tell you that I do not believe in name calling, the political theatre of the absurd and political hand wringing. I am a man of very few words who lets his actions do more of his talking. So, my campaign will concentrate on telling the people of Imo State, the things that I plan to accomplish in office. They shall represent my Social Contract with Imo State citizens. The overriding vision of my 2015 Imo State Campaign for Governor is to make the State, Agro-Allied and as a successful businessman run the activities of the State like that of an enterprise. To that effect, I have lined-up no less than 10 companies that will create approximately 50,000 jobs by end of my second year. On the day of my swearing in as governor, these companies will sign the agreement to establish manufacturing plants in Okigwe, food processing and packaging in Owerri, ship building facility in Oguta and pre-fab factory for Affordable Housing in Orlu. We must make Imo State progressively business friendly in order to attract more companies that will continue to create employment opportunities for the workforce. Second, I have organized my Policy Ideas around Ten (10) Key issues that concern an average person. a. Economic development, cooperation and empowerment (Youth, Women and Disabled) b. Technology c. Power generation and distribution. d. Education – one child, one computer up to university level by the end of my third year e. Affordable medical care and re-vamped delivery systems. f. Habitat (Affordable Housing) g. Citizens social well-being schemes h. Security i. Environmentj. Culture Third, the above mentioned policy ideas shall be organized as Imo State Renaissance & Growth Plan under Five (5) Boards of Trustees. 1. Accountability and Auditing; 2. Economic Development and Cooperation; 3. Health and Social Welfare; 4. Education, Science and Technology; 5. Citizens Advisory Finally, the Ihedi Iche Outreach Program will be directed to the following groups: I. Youth II. Women III. Disabled IV. Religious and Traditional Rulers V. Unions VI. Professionals I thank you again for your warm embrace and your time here today. I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail to discuss more about my policies, programs and outreach. Long Live our Great Party, PDP Long Live the People of Imo State Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria
