DEVICES OF THE ENEMY Morning my beloved, welcome to ‘’Scripture Review’’ this morning… IT’s interesting that Satan is mentioned in the first and the last book of the Bible. Sin has been the habit of his life from the beginning. Since his triumph in the Garden of Eden, he has sought to deceive us, to blind our eyes to the light of the one truth which can set us free from his dominion- the gospel of Jesus Christ. As the prince of this world and the prince of the power of the air, legions of angelic beings serve under him in various administrative capacities as rulers and authorities. Powers and dominions are his, as the world forces of evil in the heavenly places. Satan often disguises himself as an angel of light, and his servants do the same, even disguising themselves as servants of righteousness. He has seduced kings, prophets, and Jewish exorcists. He has sought the downfall of righteous men such as Job, Samson, Abraham, and David by turning nature and the wisdom of men against him. Satan roams the earth, seeking to devour all that he can. Seducing spirits move with him as he spreads his demonic doctrines, causing some to fall from the faith. He appears in the Gospels, Acts, and the epistles. In Revelation, the prophetic book which for the most part has yet to be fulfilled, Satan plays a major role. There we learn how his wrath builds as he learns his time is short, for soon the king of kings will come and make all His enemies His footstool. Don’t be deceived if anybody assures you that Satan is under your footstool. He is not! Remember what God said to Jesus, ‘’sit Thou at My right hand till I make thy enemy thy footstool’’. So, the battle still continues, devil is not under anybody’s footstool yet; he is the in control of the world affairs; though he has limitations; he cannot touch you as a child of God. The day is soon coming when the devil will no longer have access to the throne of God, where he accuses us night and day. Soon he’ll be cast down to the earth and all his demons with him. When that day comes his wrath will know no bounds for he has only a short time. But those who follow God won’t need to fear. The King is coming- the Kinsman Redeemer who rightly sits as the God-man above all rule, power, authority, and dominion because he had conquered sin and death. We learn that Satan will be bound for a thousand years, released for a short time, and then cast into the lake of fire. However, although that time is probably closer than we realize, it is not quite upon us, Satan still continues to be Satan- the adversary of every child of God. Therefore, you must learn all you can from the Word of God about him. Clearly, Satan is not interested in the things of God. You can be sure he will do everything he can to hinder you in your search for the truth and understanding. Remember, he hates truths and will only use it when it’s to his advantage, weaving it with his lies to seduce you or lead you astray. And if that doesn’t work, he’ll seek to deceive you with signs and false wonders. Satan desires ‘’to sift you as wheat,’’ ‘’to thwart’’ your work for God. He is known as ‘’the tempter,’’ and he’ll set snares in the hope of taking you captive to sin or to false teaching. He even sows tares among the wheat, and the tares are hard to recognize. The mind is the devil’s primary target, but he doesn’t stop there. He attacks the body. He bounds a woman for eighteen years and threw a young boy into convulsions. He put a torn in Paul’s flesh… and God left it there for it to serve His higher purpose. Should you fear Satan? NO! beloved, there is only One whom you are to fear and that is God, for if you are Christ’s, you are seated with Jesus in heavenly places- far above all the power of the enemy. Ask God to keep you aware of Satan’s methods and devices. It should be easier now since you have better intelligence on your enemy. ‘’Do you know beyond a shadow of doubt that you belong to JESUS CHRIST and that He belongs to you; Ask God if Jesus dwells within you, if He has adopted you into His family. Everyone God met, He introduces Himself to them. To Adam, he introduced Himself as God; to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, He introduced Himself has Jehovah El-shaddai; to Moses, He introduced Himself as I AM that I AM, the Adonai, Lord; to Paul the apostle He introduced Himself as Jesus. To everyone you have met in your own life, even to your spouse, don’t you introduce yourself and also asked for the person’s name? The same thing God does to all His children, at every encounter He introduces Himself to you. If He has not introduced Himself to you, why don’t you go into your room and introduce yourself to Him; I can assure you of a heavenly introduction; He’ll show you His mercy in Jesus name. Amen.
