DO YOU UNDERSTAND, HE IS YOUR SHEPHERD?! Psalm 23. One of the most celebrated writings of King David, known, recognized and memorized by every born again believer, but, do you understand that He is your shepherd? Lets take a closer look and gain clarity and understanding of the truth in this scripture. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. We all say, My heavenly Father. We start our prayers with, Heavenly Father. We end our prayers with, Thank you Father. Is it just a religious mechanic? When you understand that you and God are family, you can say, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. Some of you have to be forced to lie down. Some of you, He has to make lie down. Why? You should be at ease, reclining in the green pastures of God, knowing full well that you and God are family and you shall not want. Why are you worrying and fretting? Why do you care? Care is a form of pride. When you start caring, you take it back from God, and you are saying, God cant handle my stuff. He leadeth me beside the still waters. Some of you spend your days looking for trouble to come, you expect for something bad to happen. Why do you wonder what is coming next? God calms the storm, He causes the water around you to be still, yet, some of you sit by that water just waiting for the hurricane winds of life to cause a flood and drown you. He restoreth my soul. Your soul is your mind, your will and your emotions. One of the greatest things that you will ever learn to do is to control your emotions. What is activated in your mind and emotions will manifest in your body. Your mind should always be intact. If you will learn to control your emotions, it will be. Dont let Satan beat your brains out in an attack, dont imagine things in your mind, dont let him get to your emotions. You can outlast Satan. If you do not pay attention to him, he will give up. Why do you insist on fighting a defeated foe? Maintain your emotions, use the authority given to you, and take control. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name sake. His name is connected to where you go and what you do. He is not going to lead you wrong. He will lead you in the right places. If things are going wrong, perhaps you need to re-examine your position. Perhaps you need to fall back in line. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou are with me. It is not death. It is not death in your finances, it is not death in your health, it is not death in your family situations, it is not death in your unemployment or any of your needs. It is only a shadow. It is Satan trying to make you believe it is worse then it is. It is just a shadow, turn on the light. Satan hates the light, turn on the light of Gods word and he will run. I will fear no evil: for thou art with me. You are never alone. For some of you, the first thing that you consider is that God has forsaken you. The first thing you let out of your mouth is, God, where are you! Maybe, instead of you looking for God, you should consider whether or not He is having to look for you. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. The purest form of love is discipline. You love your children and so you discipline them. You want them to grow up to be the best people they can be and have all the best stuff. A delay is not a denial. Teaching and instruction may still be required. You can ask for something, but you may not be ready for it, you may not be mature enough or ready to receive it. A three year old can want a gun, that doesnt mean you are going to give it to him. If you enjoy hunting, and even if you dont, you should understand this. First, you are going to wait until they are old enough to understand instruction. Then you will teach them the proper way to use the gun. When they are mature enough and ready, then you will take them with you hunting and allow them to have and use that gun. Gods teaching and training, His rod to correct and the staff to guide, will always cause you to be prepared for the greatest outcome. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. There is a table of the choicest portions of Gods bounty spread out before you and the enemy is not invited to the banquet. You need to come and feast on those portions, that tells the enemy, I am not afraid! He anointest my head with oil. You are anointed like Jesus was anointed to see burdens removed and yokes destroyed. Dont expect and believe for things to happen. Dont put yourself under the yoke, destroy the yoke with the power in the word of the Living God. My cup runneth over. He is not the God of barely enough. He is not the God of just getting by. He is not the God of maybe He will and maybe He wont. He is not the God of you have had more then your fair share. Your cup runneth over, in all things. When a cup runs over, it is because you continue to pour into the cup even when the space in the cup has already been used up. The things of God are always overflowing the cup. With God, there is no, Say when! Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. Say what you want, not what you have. Proverbs 18:21 says, The power of life and death is in your tongue. God has the power to take your life, but not the authority, He gave that to you. He did not take Jesus life. Jesus said, Father, into thy hands, I command my Spirit. You have the authority to release your spirit. That should not only be viewed in the physical sense. You need not to release your spirit in defeat either. Say, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works and recount the illustrious acts of the Lord. (Psalm 118:17) You have the authority over your life and what you say will determine your outcome. God gave you the power to choose, with your words. I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Dont just visit the church on Sunday, dwell in the house of God, every second of every day. Stay tucked right up under His throne, He never gets tired of you. This is your meditation. This is where you spend your time. How many times have you read these scriptures? How many times have you heard it quoted? Do you know it? Do you know it with every fiber of your being? Can you see its true value and worth in accordance with your life? Do you have understanding, because when you realize that you and God are family, you can say, The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
