DOMINION RESTORED MEMORIZE: and God blessed them, and God said, unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:28 BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Joshua 1-10 BIBLE STUDY: Genesis 1:26-28 Mankind was created for dominion. Genesis 1:26 says, “and God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the face of earth.” God did not create man to be a victim of circumstances. He never intended for His people to live in defeat. He destined you and i to rule over all He had created. Genesis 1:28 says, “and God blessed them, and God said, unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” The word ‘subdue’ simply means to bring to subjection, to dominate. The word subdue in our memory verse, Genesis 1:28, suggests that the party being subdued is not willing to submit. The creation was unwilling to submit to man’s leading. That instruction from God to Adam – to subdue the earth - implies that the responsibility of subduing the earth has been transferred to man. It also implies that all man needs to subdue the earth have been given to him. When Adam succumbed to Satan’s deception in the Garden of Eden, he lost his dominion. Romans 6:16 says this: “ Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” Adam became Satan’s subject and everything he owned – including his dominion - became Satan’s property. From that day, Satan began to terrorize mankind but thank God for Jesus Christ. By His sinless life and sacrificial death, He reclaimed the dominion given to Satan in the fall. After His resurrection He said this: “all power in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (Matthew 28:18). At salvation, we are given the profound privilege of being adopted into the family of God. By our adoption we receive the full rights of sons (Galatians 4:5). Because we are children, we are also heirs of God and co- heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). Since we are co-heirs with Christ, all that belongs to Jesus – including the dominion He took from Satan - now belongs to us. As co-heirs with Christ and His representatives on earth, we have the right to exercise power over the enemy in Jesus’ name. With God partnering with us, we can now stand against the works of evil and spread the gospel of Christ. With this power, you and i can speak to situations and they will obey. Whatever we bind on earth will automatically be bound in heaven and whatever we loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. With this authority, we can put a stop to the activities of powers of darkness in our community. NOTE: We are able to exercise our dominion provided we are walking in humility, holiness and obedience. PRAYER POINT: I possess my possession in the name of the Jesus. twitter@BroOluwatoki Bro Samuel | Reaching the world for Jesus.
