DR. BEN CARSON SPEECH AT REAGAN LIBRARY Erudite, engaging, - TopicsExpress

DR. BEN CARSON SPEECH AT REAGAN LIBRARY Erudite, engaging, educated, grounded, quintessential American... & naïve. Well, he had me UNTIL the very last minute. I was about to strongly recommend his participation in the discussion of where the US is heading. I believe he will add integrity to the debate on the future of the country. At the same time, he is also in danger of being used like Obama. Worth listening to, but his scripted recitation to the final question, casts doubt on why such early support so soon. His advisors and supporters need to be identified. Now that he is being seriously considered (and being invited to the Reagan Library indicates he IS) he needs to get his facts right about Russia, Putin and the perennial bogeyman fearmongering and warmongering that has come along with the Conservative movement. His background is medicine, not foreign policy, so I question who his advisors are that are feeding him this BS about Soviet Union resurgence. Apparently its the same advisors that have gotten the US into a 22 year war with no end in sight, and new enemies appearing monthly, now including Russia. That being the case, I fear he will become another puppet like Obama, who can be manipulated. He already automatically accepts the fiction of invasion of South Ossetia and Crimea. Continuing NATOs aggressive containment and confrontation policy, reneging on agreements made by Jim Baker and GHWB. For him to make a statement like that, at this stage of his candidacy, belies his claims that he will learn from history and look for solutions. It was Georgia that invaded South Ossetia. Russia stopped that agressive invasion by the adventurous new US/NATO (North Atlantic???) ally on Russias doorstep, and then withdrew from Georgia, after quelling the invasion. Crimea was/is an AUTONOMOUS Republic, 90% Russian heritage, that refused to accept a US-led coup by mercenary fascist Western Ukrainians, bused to Kiev to opportunistically co-opt the popular protests against corruption. The Republic of Crimea held a referendum (just like Scotland). Then their Parliament PETITIONED to be affiliated with Russia, instead of Ukraine. Despite US angst, the PEOPLE VOTED the way they wanted. They are still an Autonomous Republic. History is the study of facts, not wishful thinking and propaganda. If Carson wants to learn from history, and REALLY change the direction of the country, he should learn it from someone other than propagandists who would use his naivete to continue their endless wars for humanitarian purposes and who brought the nation to where it is. Hopefully, hell figure that out. But if he does he will likely lose the support of everyone in that room. Meanwhile he needs to read a lot more history, and get used to REALpolitik.
