DRA’s Round Top Coffee House will feature two great Maine - TopicsExpress

DRA’s Round Top Coffee House will feature two great Maine singer-songwriters – Sorcha Cribben-Merrill and Zak Trojano – on Friday, October 10th at Round Top Farm, 3 Round Top Lane, Damariscotta. Cribben-Merrill is a Portland-based singer-songwriter who can drop you into a blues groove, pull you through intricate stories and whisper you out of a fog. She was raised in rural coastal Maine on her father’s original folk songs and funk pastime, her mother’s melodies and poetry, and her brother’s extensive jazz collection. Zak Trojano is a country boy, originally from New Hampshire who fishes and drives trucks, listened to classic rock, drank warm PBR before the state fair and spent most of his time playing drums to his headphones. He is also the academic who studied theory and composition at Skidmore College, played the drum solo to Take Five alongside Dave Brubeck, began to fall in love with melody, harmony, and songwriting, and composed a seven-part rock opera for his senior composition recital. Now in its sixth year of hosting the Coffee House and open mic for the Damariscotta region, the DRA invites musicians, singers, poets and other performers to sign up and demonstrate their talents during the open mic portion of the Coffee House. The stage is open to everyone. The event is held on the second Friday of each month. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The open mic runs from 6:45 to 8:15, with a 15-minute break before the feature act from 8:30 to 9:30. The open mic is a series of eight-minute, two-song slots, and is designed for individual or small group performances. Performers should be able to walk up on stage and set up quickly. To be assured of a slot, performers should show up to sign up promptly at 6:30. Coffee and snacks are available. A plate or two of home-baked goods or a volunteer shift at the open mic earns half-price admission. Rising Tide Community Market sponsors the DRA Round Top Coffee House by providing refreshments for each show. Rising Tide is proud to sponsor this opportunity for the Damariscotta community to hear some great music from local talent and from around the region. The DRA Round Top Coffee House is held at DRA’s Round Top Farm, 3 Round Top Lane, just off US Route 1B (Main Street) in Damariscotta, with onsite parking. The venue is across the street from Hammond Lumber and next to Women of Substance. Admission is $8 ($5 for Seniors, free for kids 12 and under). For more information call Heather Hardy or Jason Anthony at 677-2354 or the DRA at 563-1393.
