Dancing to the greatest Big Bands. A few nights ago I asked Dad if hed like to listen to some of his favorite music from his youth. He said hed like to hear some Harry James. I searched on Youtube and had some immediate finds. You Made Me Love You, sung by Helen Forrest really caught his interest. It was only then that I learned that Stegeman Hall at the University of Georgia had regularly hosted many of the greatest big bands of the 1940s and 1950s. Dad danced there to Harry James, Gene Krupa, Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, and Jimmy Dorsey. He remembers meeting some of the band leaders, but Helen Forrest was the singer he remembered best. Dad usually just sits quietly in his wheelchair but I noticed one hand keeping time and one foot even taking tiny steps. I could hear Paul across the room singing along quietly. It was a nice time learning about his musical interests. https://youtube/watch?v=lTzP7ecGQiw
