Database Administrator (Reference 01551) Advertiser: Gauteng Department of Health Location: Johannesburg Directorate: Policy Planning & Research Salary: R212 106 per annum (plus benefits) Centre: Central Office, Johannesburg Requirements: A B degree in Health. A post-graduate degree in public health or any related field in health would be an advantage. Excellent computer literacy. Experience with maintaining databases (Access and Excel). Other skills/ requirements: Experience in the health research sector. Experience working with ethics committees, academic institutions and researchers. Experience with archiving and document management. Attention to detail, ability to run an organised and efficient office. Ability to manage your own outputs and performance and work with minimal supervision. Ability to provide a friendly, helpful service to stakeholders, including researchers. Excellent communication skills. Duties: Coordinate research applications process, analyse documents from researchers to identify whether all required documents have been submitted, record all protocols and manage the interaction between the unit and the Provincial Protocol Review Committee. Maintain the research database of all research protocols (capture, track, report on). Manage and archive research records (electronic and hard copies). Liaise with researchers, academic institutions, and the Provincial Protocol Review Committee to ensure smooth approval processes, and to ensure regular feedback is provided. Provide outstanding customer / client liaison service to stakeholders, including researchers and the Provincial Health Research Committee. Provide effective and efficient administrative support to ensure the effective functioning of Research and Epidemiology Unit, including meetings of the all Departmental research structures. Support coordination of the provincial research conference, training courses, road shows and seminars. Support the coordination of the annual HIV and Syphilis Antenatal Survey, including the supervision of data capturers. Attend to ad hoc tasks as delegated by the research and epidemiology manager.
