Dave Dobbyn National Treasure: Part of yesterdays haul was a doco on Dave and 2 CD set of 39 songs. Back in the 70s I thought NZ music was over all pretty bad, then along came the ends...well, their early stuff was pretty bad too. I see red was a taste of things to come, but Dave did it for me, personally I think he was light years ahead of the ends. Unfortunately he now looks like Yoda., but a singer fears not these things The force is strong with Dave, long may he continue. His volume of work is outstanding, many of his songs are better live than in the studio, and like many artists they seem to record laid back lazy versions of their songs. Songs with fire need the flames, not the smoke. That aside, its a fine cd set and doco. Beside You, 30 years on...I asked Christine what her fav dave song was, but when you think about its hard to pick one, there are so many.
