David Eddy Townsend 1947-2013 I just learned of his death. We were in Methodist Youth Fellowship together as well as members of the Class of 1965. He did attend the 40th and was looking forward to the 50th. November 13, 1947 - September 22, 2013 Lake Havasu City, Arizona David slipped suddenly yet peacefully into the arms of his maker on Sunday, September 22, 2013, causing deep shock and sadness to a great many people. He was a New Hampshire native; born in Hanover and raised in Claremont. Dave is predeceased by his father Edward Townsend and his mother Lois (Tashro). He is survived by his wife, Lisa (Langdon), his children Seth (Janis), Scott (Michelle), Stacey (Bryan) and their mother Susan as well as his sister Kathie (Bill) Hanacik. “Poppy’s” grandchildren are Tristan and Kellan (Seth), Rebecca, Isaac and Maddy (Scott) and Ethan and Neveah (Stacey). Dave was very active in Lake Havasu City. Called “Mr. T” by his many students, he was an LHUSD Teacher for over 25 years and was awarded the K-12 Foundation’s Distinguished Teacher Award in both 2008 and 2009. Dave was very active in his church, Mount Olive Lutheran; was one of the original Stephen’s Ministers there and was a steadfast advocate and sponsor for the Lutheran Cursillo Movement. He was a key member of the Golden “K” Kiwanis Club which was awarded “Distinguished Club” under his Presidency in 2010-11. He was a longtime member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and was named the 2000 Arizona State King. Dave was a gentle, kind and honest person who one Pastor called “a man without guile”. He loved his family, his students, his church, his community and his D-Backs.
