Valley of Harrisburg, Central Penn Scottish Rite Club, active in Main Street Hanover and Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce What is the most important issue facing McSherrystown Borough? I believe there to be several factors which will influence the future of our town for the better. Expanding the tax base by attracting new homeowners and businesses to create new jobs, with a citizenry served and protected by a strong local police force, accompanied by the finest fire and EMS services, utilizing the best local infrastructure which can be maintained by the least individual revenue contribution, made by the people, possible, is essential to any community. We are lucky to have all of those opportunities here in McSherrystown and we must not only safeguard those resources, but ensure their success and longevity for future generations. Each of us must remain directly involved with our community and serve at the levels of our respective organizations and involvements to ensure their successes as well. It all starts with a free flow of communication and cooperation. To these ends, I suggested and have supported the creation of a municipal website, which will soon be a reality, in order to easily disseminate information throughout the borough. It is my belief that an educated and knowledgeable constituency is best equipped to direct the business of its elected officials. If you are elected (or re-elected) what would be one of your major goals for the future of the borough? Having worked on the Hanover Regional Economic Development Plan for the past year, I am excited that we will have a finalized copy in our hands by the end of November. The committee members from all four municipalities involved have stated a commitment to following through with the goals that have been established within that plan in order to provide efficient infrastructure for our growing metropolitan area, while working with realtors to attract long-term homeowners as well as with landlords on upkeep and development of rental properties, increasing job and training opportunities for our citizens, fostering sustainable businesses in our commercially zoned properties, and enhancing our recreation resources so that our region has a coordinated effort and an increased opportunity for success of providing the best communities possible for people to work, live and raise families, while continuing a traditional heritage for our progeny. I would be honored to be able to continue working on the implementation of that plan. I want to thank the people of McSherrystown for allowing me to serve as a member of borough council the past two years, and I ask for your support in my re-election to council, thereby also continuing as vice president of the Adams County Boroughs Association, where I am able to help write and influence state-level legislation as the legislative committee chairman, to protect our rights and interests.
