Day +17... 83 days until Christmas. :) We had a little bit of a rough night. Brock had some stomach pain, fell asleep and then woke up with heart palpitations. The anesthesiologist came in at 1:30AM ish to have me sign a consent for his surgery today to remove his broviac. Then the surgeon came in at 5AM. He was to be first on the surgery schedule today to remove his broviac but his platelets are too low for surgery. Red Cross had none and had to recruit and rush some through processing for him. So he had platelets at 12 today and now re-checking his counts. If they are at an acceptable level, he will go down for surgery sometime this afternoon. He is starved because he can not eat or drink until after surgery. The doctor thinks his heart palpitations are from his magnesium being very low (in spite of him taking it twice a day) but they are going to do an EKG. His bilirubin is high due to him having some hemolytic anemia and he is a little jaundice. They are kind of scratching their heads on this one. BUT.. his ANC was 1600! SO..... If he is able to go to surgery and that goes well, if his ANC is still above 500, if he stays fever and infection free and if his bilirubin does not get worse we may get to go home tomorrow.
