Day 92 (13 weeks) Its exactly one month today until Christmas!! Will we or will we not be home for Christmas? That is the big question! Its so close now its going to be really close. I think the biggest a factors will be getting the hernia operation done in time then whether there is space for Jack in Nelson Hospital. We are still hoping that Jack and Olivia can share a plane and go home together!! This morning Jack had another go at breastfeeding. He did really well again and definitely got some milk this time. The nurses have a rating from 1-6, to record how the feed went. 1 is beginning and 6 is breastfeeding completely (without needing a tube top up). The nurse recorded our session as a 3-4. Im happy with this for our second attempt. I cant wait to try again tomorrow. A few more days and I will ask to try breastfeeding twice a day. Im having to go back to expressing every four or so hours again now. I was down to only 3 or 4 times a day but now need to increase this to get ready for when Jacks is feeding regularly. Hopefully this wont be to far away. This afternoon I was really looking forward to giving Jack a bath. Finally I would be able to bath him by myself. Because he is on optiflow and the prongs stick to his face without needing to be held, I no longer the need the nurse holding the oxygen mask. However it was a little more awkward than I thought it would be. The optiflow hose which connects to the tubes around Jacks nose, started pulling on Jacks face once I settled him down into the bath. So I needed to lift him out again. Then I realised I could clip the hose onto me to stop it pulling. In the end Jacks nurse held it for me. Next time Ill try again to go single handed. Once I got sorted, Jack really enjoyed his bath and lay in the water completely chilled out. I just love watching him in there. Afterwards I tried again to give him a little massage but he wasnt having a bar of that. I also weighed Jack and he is weighing in at 2710 grams today. I dressed him in some of his lovely new clothes. Jo was here for Jacks bath time too, which was awesome. Today Jo and I walked into town. We picked up some very cool clothes for Jack at bargain prices at Baby City and then went to see the amazing Christmas shop at Kirkcaldie and Stains. I just love Christmas time and could look at Christmas decorations and displays for ages. Hopefully Ill be home to put up the Christmas tree, I cant imagine Marty will do it! Then Jo and I sat in the hot sun, in a garden bar and had a drink before Jo had to leave for the airport. It was so lovely having her her and having a long overdue catch up. The Wellington sun is actually lovely if you can find a sheltered spot out of the sun!! Now Im off to bed and really hoping to get a good night sleep. I still havent been sleeping very well since Jacks eye surgery. So Ive been feeling very tried over the last week.
