Day Six: 2 Corinthians 5:21: God made this sinless man be a sin - TopicsExpress

Day Six: 2 Corinthians 5:21: God made this sinless man be a sin offering on our behalf, so that in union with him we might fully share in God’s righteousness.” So this is super simple yet holds the whole key to what we stand for. God created His son Jesus for us. Jesus was sinless and without blemish. Offered up as a blood sacrifice like they did in the old testament to fulfill the scriptures and promises of God had made. For the soul purpose that we could fully share in Gods righteousness. Wow, I mean dude really can you imagine having a child and watching that child grow up just to be cut down in his prime of life for some ungrateful people? Now can you imagine creating that child knowing the whole point of his life was to die for someone else. So when we stand in front of our creator one day, how many excuses do you think he will except that start with I just did not feel like it. That is an eye opening deal, however another one. Most of the time we stop there and miss the point of what God was trying to do. I always hear people saying you have to get right with God. When they say right it is really slang and short for righteous. The understanding is that you have to act right or get right to get to hang out with the creator of the universe. The problem is that God just said that He did that for you. So if you need to do something to get righteous, then that means that what Jesus did was not enough and if what He did was not enough then your whole basis for salvation requires you to keep the law perfectly. I dont know about you, but I have never sacrificed and animal to God and I like bacon. So lets go to math class, if you can not add to something you can also not subtract from it. If you can not make your self more righteous then neither can you make your self less righteous. The problem is so many times we have it in our heads that God can not use us or does not want to hang with us, or we should not hang with Him because we are where we are in life. Our head gets in the way of our heart sometimes and all that we can see is the bad things in our life. Honestly many Christians are guilty of missing what God has for them by just six inches or so. If we can learn that we are righteous and start acting like it, and by that I mean letting noting stand in the way of our relationship with Christ all of the things that the world deems un-righteous would fall away all on there own. So todays deal is a little different. To many time when we think of ourselves all we think about is the bad and not the good. I am personally self employed however there are things that my banker makes me do that I would not do other wise. A couple years ago he made me sit down and write out a full business plan. It took me 30 full pages to complete it. If you have not done one I would really recommend it. When I got done I realized that I was not putting priority to areas that were more profitable then the areas I thought were. It also gave me a better sense of pride in my business and a better hope for the feature. At the end of the day weather we are self employed or get our paychecks from someone else we are the masters of our own destiny (until Jesus tells us otherwise). Never complain about your wages, that is a mark of immaturity (and yes I have been guilty of it in the past) you agreed to work for that wage. If you dont like it re-negotiate or find a better job. If you think your boss cant get along with out you, chances are the guy whose place you filled though the same thing. If your self employed then at some point you have understood the phrase shoe string budget and you understand that some times things are beyond your control. Todays deal is to create a resume. Yea might not sound all that fun, but it is never a bad idea to have one ready to go. However, the reason that we need to do it is we need to start to see how awesome we are. Realistically it is just a piece of paper that most of us will never use, however sometimes we need a piece of paper to remind us of how awesome we truly are. If you take the time to do it and you can honestly look at it and say man that guy is the bomb I would hire him, then you might just feel a little better about yourself. Who knows you might just learn a little about yourself or see some areas that you wish to improve on that you did not know where there. Just remember at the end of the day God already hired us, resume or not and He already gave us our wages, the precious precious blood or His son Christ Jesus. From AoM: None of us need reminding that the economy is in the tank right now. In this tight job market, every small thing can mean the difference between landing a job and being unemployed. Today we’re going to focus on one of those “small” things: our resume. I don’t know everyone’s story out there, but I’m sure many of you are looking for work. And having an updated, sharp looking resume is an essential part of networking like a man. Even if you have a job, it’s a good idea to update your resume. Why? Well, first, there’s a chance you could lose your job, and you want to be able to start looking for new work immediately instead of having to spend time working on your resume. Second, perhaps a better job opportunity will show up. Many times, such opportunities are time sensitive, meaning the first to get his foot in the door usually gets the job. We all need to be ready for these opportunities when they present themselves by having resumes that are ready to be printed off and placed in someone’s hand. So today’s task is to update our resumes. If you don’t have a resume, then today’s a good day to start one. I’d suggest first reading our How to Write a Resume article. Before we get to the task, let’s take a look at 7 pointers to ensure that we all have killer resumes. Tips for Updating Your Resume 1. Brainstorm. First, check to see if there’s anything you can add to update your resume. If you look down at your resume and nothing comes to you, pull out an empty sheet of paper and list all the projects you’ve worked on, all the training you’ve accomplished, and any awards you’ve received since the last time you looked at your resume. If you’ve done any volunteer work during that time period, add that too. 2. Eliminate outdated info and “padding.” Now that we’ve made a list of new stuff that we can add, take a hard look at your current resume and your new list of items. Are there items on your current resume that are just padding? Perhaps there’s some achievement on your new list that is much stronger and impressive than what you currently have. If so, replace the old achievement with the new. Update any new certifications you may have received. And make double sure that all your contact info is up-to-date. You don’t want to miss a job opportunity because you gave your old phone number and email in your resume. 3. Update your format. If you’re like most people, when you first wrote your resume, you probably just used a MS Word template. But we want our resumes to stand out. It’s hard to be unique if you use the same template that every other candidate is using. Instead of using a Word template, take a look at some sample resumes online. Below, we’ve included a few online resources you can use in your research. Also, it doesn’t hurt to ask friends and colleagues in the same field as you if you can see their resumes to get inspiration on how to format yours. So phrases like “Good people skills” have to go. Instead, replace such vague phrases with action words that give specific numbers. Instead of saying “Good people skills” say something like “Managed 45 employees and conducted monthly interviews with each of them.” Further reading: ◾6 Words That Make Your Resume Suck: squawkfox/2009/01/19/6-words-that-make-your-resume-suck/ ◾25 Words That Hurt Your Resume: cnn/2006/US/Careers/01/20/cb.words.hurt.resume/ 5. Triple check for spelling and grammar mistakes. Your resume is probably the first impression you’ll have on a future employer, so you want it to be the absolute best. Having spelling and grammar mistakes isn’t the way to leave a stellar first impression. Run through your resume several times and check for any errors or typos. Read it out loud to yourself. Have a friend or a mentor look it over, too. 6. Give it a face lift. Finally, you want to polish off your resume so it gleams among the stacks of inanity on an employer’s desk. One way you can do this is to make simple changes in the font and spacing. LifeClever has an amazing tutorial on how to make cosmetic changes to your resume that can really make it shine. It’s amazing how such small changes can truly freshen up your resume’s appearance and make it easier to read. 7. Create digital copies. After you’ve updated your resume, make digital copies of it so you can access your resume at the drop of a hat. I always keep a copy of my most current resume saved in my Gmail inbox in case I need to print one off while I’m away from my computer or I need to email it to a potential employer. Also, I recommend attaching a USB drive with your updated resume to your key chain. That way if you ever need a resume, you just plug and print. The Task: Update Your Resume There you go.
