Day Two Biennial Conference Day 2 began with a Presentation by Ms Thecla Fitz representing Walden University. Ms Fitz reminded the delegates of the Scholarship options offered The deliberations include the following: Election Procedures Officers Reports Report on Public Education Campaign in Haiti by the Haitian delegation. Role of Caricom in improving the professional status in the Caribbean - Dr. Morella Joseph Role of CXC in improving the professional status of teachers in the Caribbean - Dr. Didacus Jules Announcement of Candidates for Election of Officers There was the generally spirited discussion on issues covered. A synopsis of the presentations by Dr. Jules and Dr. Joseph will be posted subsequently. CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION President - Brother Marvin Andall, Greneda (unopposed) 1st Vice President - Sis Celia Nicholas, Dominica (unopposed) 2nd Vice President - Bro. Julian Monrose, St. Lucia & Bro. Cecil Hodge, British Virgin Island 3rd Vice President - Sis. Vernest Mack, Antigua, Bro. Anselm Wright, Trinidad & Tobago and Sis. Coretta Mc Donald, Guyana Trustees - Bro. Micheal Stewart, Jamaica, Bro. Richmark Cave, Barbados, Bro. Oswald Robinson, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Sister Emma Ferguson, Anguilla Best wishes to the Candidates and congratulations to the President and 1st Vice President for their election to office. The Guyana Teachers Union hosted a Guyana night at the Carifesta Ground. This activity showcased the varied cultural talent of their rich and diverse heritage as well as a a variety of food including roti and mutton, white pudding, curry crab, cassava and plantain chips coconut roll and cassava pone. All delegates, observers and other attendees experienced a wonderful evening.The hospitality of the GTU must be commended.
