Dear Chamber members, I would like to introduce you to your new board. My name is Mauro Montoya and Im the new President of the Albuquerque GLBT Chamber of Commerce. Joy Hudson is the new Treasurer, Israel Chávez is the new Secretary and Katie McGarvey, our Membership Development Coordinator. First, I would like to thank Talia Freedman, who served as president for many years. Talia kept this organization going and kept on pushing so our GLBT community would have a voice in the business community. Unfortunately for us, but fortunately for Talia, her real estate business has picked up so much she no longer has time to lead the organization. We are grateful for Talias leadership over the years and wish her the BEST in all her ventures. We also want to note the passing of Jennifer M Taylor, who was to become Co-Chair of this organization with me. Jennifer passed away in August and we all miss her greatly. The new Board is working to strengthen our organization, renew ties with existing members and bring in new members. We have several things in the works to start us off and we had our first Monthly Business Exchange in October. We are holding a Holiday Business Exchange On December 10th. More will be announced about that later. We are also working on a small business package targeted to LGBT owned and friendly businesses, as well as several other ideas. We ask that if you have ideas youd like to see the Chamber institute, please let us know. This is YOUR organization and we want our members to have an organization that is valuable to YOUR business! And if youre a Chamber member, you get a discount when you place an ad with the New Mexico Pride Guide, and the Chambers logo is placed next to your ad so that readers of the Pride Guide know you are a Chamber member.
