Dear Friends concerned about Israel, As we relayed to our community last week, tonight (Tuesday, August 12th) there will be an event honoring the service and memory of Max Steinberg, z’l, born and raised in our community, who fell in service to the IDF and the Jewish people in a battle almost three weeks ago. I, along with many of your Wise clergy, teachers, and leaders will be there. Im hoping that you will take the time to join us, as it is important on so many levels. Maxs story is one of inspiration, dedication, and love for the State of Israel. His funeral in Israel was attended by an estimated 35,000 people on Mt. Herzl, where Prime Ministers, heroes, and the Unknown Israeli Soldier are laid to their final rest. Cantor Lam has been involved helping the family and the community prepare for this evening of honor and respect. It is important for us as a community to show support to his family, to the people of Israel, to those who were injured, and to the families of those who were killed in this fight against terrorism. His mother and father, sister, and brother will speak along with other dignitaries who will add their voices of praise to the bravery of this young man. In addition to Cantor Lam, Cantors Marcus Feldman of Sinai Temple, Nati Baram of Young Israel of North Beverly Hills, and Don Gurney of Wilshire Boulevard Temple will participate. The event will be held at the SABAN THEATRE, 8440 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills. It is open to the entire community. Doors will open at 6 p.m. The program will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. Bags, backpacks, and large purses will not be allowed into the Theatre.
