Dear Lord of Our Problems, My Low spirits signal that I am too depleted, grief stricken, fatigued or all of these, to feel the peacefulness that comes by being aware of your underlying perfection. To become aware of this perfection, I have found that I must simply come aside, disengage from that which further depletes me and become receptive to your replenishment. The hardest part for me Lord, is to disengage from that which depletes me. Why? It is because the stubborn part of my self wants relief by continuing to do that which causes the suffering! How insane is that? In living the spiritual life, you guide me to the realization that holy peace is a matter of relinquishment. I must be willing to give up my current mindset and its behaviors if these are pulling me down. Relinquishment is not found not in rules, not in self-criticality, not in frenzies, not in distraction, and not in holding fast to the patterns that sink us into even lower spirits, regardless of how routine and familiar those may be. Relinquishment can be found when I pray: Lord of the Universe, I give to you my moods, my thoughts, my frustrations, my losses, my discouragements, and my weariness... I cannot see beyond these though I know that when you blow these away, I will see your face and feel you peace! Release me from clinging to these problems and the mindset that perpetuates them. Oh God, I do not want them... I ask for you to set my feet on higher ground ....transform me to experience your divine order.... And in the midst of this, let me learn what I must learn for the progression of my soul, whatever that may be. In your name, Amen.
