Dear Students Of Multimedia Universtiy , The Students Representative Council would like to enlighten students on a new policy called the Programme Structure Based Billing ( PSBB ). This policy will be implemented from Trimester 2 2014/2015 onwards. We request for all students to thoroughly read and understand the changes upon the implementation of this policy. The regulations of this policy shall also apply for pre-subject registration : 1) Students shall register all subjects according to the programme structure by trimester. 2) Students who fail to follow the programme structure due to probation , failing of subject , LOA and so on are subjected to a minimum and maximum academic load : Long Semester : - Minimum of 12 Credit Hours for all Students - Maximum of 18 Credit Hours for Engineering students - Maximum of 20 Credit Hours for Non - Engineering students Short Semester : - Minimum of 6 Credit Hours for all students - Maximum of 9 Credit Hours for all students * Students under Probation Status shall only be allowed to register Subjects as follows: (i) A minimum of twelve (12) credit hours (CH) in long Trimester (ii) A minimum of six (6) credit hours (CH) in short Trimester 3) Students who do not register any subjects by week 4 and has not applied for LOA within the period , will be granted the status of dismissed . 4) If a student register subjects totaling more than the credit hours stated in his programme structure for that trimester, he will be charged based on the total number of credit hours registered. 5) Refund of subjects : 100% of the course fee shall be refunded if a student withdraws from a subject within the first and second week of any trimester. No refund shall be granted for any withdrawal of subject after the first two weeks of any trimester. 6) Except on extraordinary circumstances, a student shall not be allowed leave of absence for more than three (3) trimesters throughout his study at Multimedia University. Except for National Service, Student Exchange Programme, Medical Reasons and other approved reasons by Senate, the period of student’s leave or ‘away from the university’ shall be considered as part of the student’s candidature period. 7)The maximum period of study for a 3 year degree programme shall be five (5) years ( 15 Trimesters) and for a 4 year degree programme shall be seven (7) years ( 21 Trimesters) .The maximum period of study for a Foundation programme shall be two (2) years.The maximum period of study for a Diploma programme shall be four (4) years.( 12 Trimesters) 8) A student may be allowed to repeat a subject up to maximum of two times. A student who fails a subject more than two times shall be terminated from his studies. However, he may appeal to the Senate Appeal Committee for reinstatement and to retake the subject. 9) The status of ‘Incomplete’ (I) may be recorded for an incomplete subject if the student had attended at least 80% of the trimester. The student shall be required to sit for the Final Examination in the earliest trimester in which the subject is re-offered by the faculty, failing which the status for the subject shall be converted to ‘F’. 10) There will be no second supplementary paper offered under any circumstances. Students are required to attend the First Supplementary paper offered to them which will be the ONLY supplementary paper offered. *Students may appeal to their respective Faculties if unable to comply with the regulations of the new policy due to exceptional circumstances. eg : Subject not offered / LOA / pre-requisite subejcts.
