Dear brethren I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus. I want us to take a moment to answer this question; How do you treat those who offend or have offended you? We are all entitled to have our own opinions when it comes to this, yet we have been commanded to forgive our offenders. Forgiveness is divine, because its a command from God. And most importantly its a godly character which every child of God must possess. (Matthew 6:14,) Another reason why forgiveness is so important is that when you forgive or show mercy on others, you will have it in return. And when you failed to, you dont get it in return. (Matthew 5:7, 6:15). Let us consider the lessons from the the book of Matthew 18:23:34, how when the King considered the accounts of the servant and forgave him his debt after hearing his plead. But going out, the servant himself refused to forgive another servant. And from the further action taken by the King it shows when we fail to forgive others their debts, we also will not be forgiven ours. Another important reason why we need to forgive is that when we forgive & let go of the offences and grudges we hold in our hearts against others, we give way for peace.
