Dear friends of AMADO, I had the amazing privilege to facilitate a 19 year old blind young man on his maiden voyage atop horse back. It was the first time in his life that he could move freely, without fear of bumping into objects, stepping on someone’s toes. AND HE LOVED IT! I must admit, I was scared before we got started, he had been begging me for weeks to put him on. I thought brushing, touching and feeling the horses around him would be magical enough, but no, he wanted to ride… after careful planning, my assistant and I took the plunge. Realizing yet again that if you treat someone with a disability like a bird with a broken wing, he will never learn how to fly…This young man took off, right away, the biggest smile imaginable. He only once asked me whether we were going really fast, “cause I like it”… Now he rides. Thank you for being a part of our organization for almost 7 YEARS! We are extremely proud and happy to still be here, providing such a much needed service for those who have no other way of being heard, understood and uplifted. If you are in a giving mood, we could really use your financial support at the moment. Every little bit helps! We would like to remind you of our partnership with MySchool and for those of you who do not have a MySchool card with AMADO as beneficiary; please could you go to the following link and apply: https://myschool.co.za/supporter/apply/.You can have up to 3 beneficiaries. It’s free, simple and means very much to us. Enjoy your Christmas holiday with friends and family, we look forward to your feedback and continued support during the New Year.
