Dear parents I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to the 2013/2014 season of Calliope Athletics. Thank you all for your patience as we get things underway. We have been overwhelmed by the number of children wanting to be involved and I must admit this has taken us a little by surprise and created a few minor teething problems. I thank you for your patience and understanding and please bear with us. Our goal is to make this a fun season for the athletes as well as trying to teach them some of the basic skills of athletics. But our focus is very much on the fun of athletics. I do have one important request for all parents and athletes - please listen to the coaches and also TREAT THEM WITH RESPECT. The coaches are a critical part of our club and without them we do not have a junior club. Please also remember they are also doing this for the enjoyment of sharing their love of athletics (they are definitely NOT doing it for the money) and some of our coaches are young and learning so please treat them accordingly. If you do have any concerns or issues, I would ask that you do not approach the coaches directly but please bring your concerns to myself - either on the night or by email. We are continually trying to improve our nights so always welcome any suggestions on how we can make it more enjoyable for all. Any parents who are willing or able to help please contact me or one of the senior coaches (Noush or Tash) - we would be delighted to welcome your help. It may be as simple as raking the long jump pit in between jumpers. It does get you more involved with your children and makes it more fun for everyone. Again I do apologise for the teething issues.
